The Beast has been tamed…..for another year at least!

Well, what can I say apart from WAW! You were awesome! ‘You’ meaning all the runners who travelled far and wide to tame the Beast; all the marshals who were dotted around the course everywhere making sure you were going to be ok; Rachel for putting up with my madness; Carolyn for being so supportive at all times; My family; all the people at the hall who helped with the catering, registration and timekeeping; Carol Greenhalgh and Wendy Burge for your help leading up to, and during the event; Roland and Pat Sherwood of on-line race results; Richard James Woodpark, and Tom Wells, who helped me mark the course where the quad bike could get to!; Ian ‘the oracle from the North’ Roberts, James, Lucy and Richard who helped pick up some of the markers; the landowners whose land you ran over( and even down someone’s front garden on the Beast!); all those who helped sponsor the race somehow; Ian ‘The oracle from the North, and Pat ‘The cake fairy’ Roberts who travelled all the way down from Lancaster just to help with the race. Ian was out marshalling for 5hrs on top one of the highest points, whilst Pat was the lady manning the cake stall; Stephen Roberts photography for taking great photos; SW therapy for massaging the stiff legged runners, and there’s still far too many people to thank. YOU ARE ALL, AWESOME.  I salute you. 😉

I’m just coming back down to earth after a frantic couple of days, and I’ve just come back from picking up all those white little posts and markers that helped guide you around the course so that you didn’t get lost. So a bit knackered to say the least.

Sorry for the delay in putting on the results, but here’s the link to the online race results site, but I will put them onto the website as soon as I can anyway.

Thanks for all your comments about the race. It’s been pretty amazing really. These are just some of the comments;

“Been running fell races for 25 years and this has to be one of the best races I’ve ever run!. This course has everything. Proper open fells, technical wooded singletrack, great descents, some hard climbs, bogs, great views, wooden boardwalk, and even someones front garden!”

 “Yet again a fantastic race. This will become an iconic race if you carry on like this. Well done.”

“A truly awesome day on the hills. Incredibly friendly well-organised race. Marshalls were brilliant, course marking was faultless, course was very tough, beautiful and enjoyable! Refreshments team back in the village hall were amazing, loved the cawl! Will come back and bring some friends! Consider the beast tamed for one more year! :-)”

 “Returned again this year and more than lived up to expectations. A fantastic race with absolutely superb marshalls and organisation. Thank you, I’ll be back!”
 “Totally radical! Cakes are excellent (again). All of it was 100%. Great- Don’t change anything… apart from maybe less hills… and mud… and bogs… and more cake! And dancing girls, and maybe cheerleaders? Just a thought!”

“Done the three peaks race, but it’s not a patch on this race”

“Thanks to everyone who’s time allowed us to race especially the mountain goat marshalls. I thought having both races finish at approx the same time was a great idea, my only criticism would be I felt it needed another few thousand feet!!! Only joking! Thanks for a great day!”

So, that’s it for another year. To be honest, during the week leading up to race day, I was debating whether to do this race again next year!!!!!! It is a lot of work and pretty stressful at times, but I’m coming around already to thinking about it already! Would you want to run it again?

If you have a comment you’d like to add then please email me. 😉

Thanks again, Caz the hat.
